FRIENDLY FAN REMINDERS FOR WAKEFEST PRESENTED BY COORS LIGHT THIS WEEKEND
…Fans Reminded To Plan Ahead, Wear Sunscreen, Drink Plenty of Water, Have Fun and Be Safe
Wakefest presented by Coors Light returns to Kelowna’s Waterfront Park this weekend for its seventh year, and organizers would like to remind fans of the following event instructions to ensure that everyone has a fun and safe weekend.
To help facilitate fans’ trip home from the event, a free shuttle bus will run from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Fans can get on the bus at two locations, in front of the casino across from Prospera Place and downtown at the Sailes statue at Bernard and Water Streets. The shuttle buses will drop fans off at three locations, the Capri Centre Mall, the Orchard Park Mall, and the Mission Park Mall.
“We know that everyone is excited about this weekend’s perfect weather and the return of Wakefest to Kelowna,” said Wakefest event director Mark Taylor. “The fans’ support and enthusiasm in Kelowna have made this the number one event on the Pro Wakeboard Tour, and we’re looking forward to another fun and safe Wakefest weekend.”
As announced yesterday, tickets for Saturday at Wakefest are sold out. Tickets for the action on Friday and Sunday are still available and can be purchased at Waterfront Park beginning Friday morning at 11am.
Organizers also want to alert fans to two onsite logistical changes for this year’s event. First, there will be no re-entry by fans after 7 p.m. each night. Secondly, the two areas onsite with liquor licenses will be subject to new capacity limitations. There will be one beer garden located at Tugboat Beach with a capacity of 1,000 people and another by the concert venue with a 600 person capacity.
Lastly, fans are reminded to take all necessary precautions with the sun and high temperatures expected this weekend. Protect yourself with sunscreen, wear a hat and sunglasses and drink plenty of water.
“We’re looking forward to a great weekend, and want to encourage everyone to have fun but to be responsible,” said Taylor. “Kelowna has always been the perfect host to Wakefest and we look forward to this year being the best yet.”
